Quiet life..reflections on the Holy Innocents and modern war.

"Everybody today seems to be in such a terrible rush, anxious for greater developments and greater riches and so on, so that children have very little time for their parents. Parents have very little time for each other, and in the home begins the disruption of peace of the world." - Mother Teresa

And this brings about unsatisfied hearts which begets avarice and greed, which begets strife, which begets war, which begets death and destruction, which begets despair and loss of Hope.....Then the evil one has gained the upper hand because souls no longer trust in God.

In these times when men rush off to success and to greed and to war, we must remember that throughout the ages, God has called us to a different path..

 Psalm 4

When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.

O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?  Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.

Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.

Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?  The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.

By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied. In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest: For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.

Yesterday was the feast of the Holy Innocents.  A sad day in history, and one who's evil spirit is still rampant today...through abortion and senseless war.  Children die in both, and for some insane reason, it's legal.

O Lord, please give us the graces to have hearts of love and hope. Please help us to have quiet lives, growing daily in the virtues of meekness and humility.  Give us the graces to be the ones who pick up the injured and dead, the "collateral dammage" of our worlds war against life and hope.  Help us with Your grace to raise Godly children who will be soldiers for You, and walk in Your shoes of peace.  Give us the graces to make a nightly examen of conscience, so that we may see how we have failed, and what You desire us to do to grow in Your wisdom.
In the precious name of Jesus we pray, Amen
Our Lady of the Fields, pray for us, Holy Innocents, pray for us...
